- The point has been almost lost in this thread!! I too NEED a GOOOD telnet
- client (WinQVT is a goood example, that provides goood DEC VT emulation)
- that also has built in async file tranfer protocol support built in.
- I.E. kermit and z/xmodem.
-
- Typical scenario is (and I can't image why this hasn't been immediately
- realized by everyone??) in NEW typical corporate America and R&D environs,
- them modems are NOW on the LAN served on terminal servers. Reachable by
- LAT (DEC protocol) and TCP/IP (everyone elses protocol, except IBM and
- Novell). Now, how to the mirade of DOS/Windows users get at these
- modems?? I used to be via RS-232 to a COM port. But that is exacly the
- reason a LAN is put in to avoid doing!!! So no more async access to
- the LAN via the COM ports, only via the LAN card. You can guess the
- rest.......
-
- Many of us are looking for a GOOOD Telnet that has kermit, X/Ymodem file
- transfer built in..
-
- Any Ideas??
-
- Thanks, for your patients with my explanation of why this is a need.
-
- Now, to the kermit respondant: is there a DOS version of kermit that
- now supports winsock???
